Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady Recovers Well from its Closure

New York State’s gaming industry is now recovering well from the impacts of the unprecedented situation that occurred in March 2020. Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady is one of the preferred gaming locations among gamblers and the venue is now fully operational, and all of its premium amenities such as dining and hospitality services are available.

The casino closed down in March 2020 and it was able to reopen in September 2020 but under a limited capacity, making it harder to recover financially. Also, the property had to furlough over 1,000 staff members. But now the casino is enjoying the new way of life as all of its in-house restaurants and the Landing Hotel are up and running.

Returning to Normality

General Manager of Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady, Rick Richards stated that the gaming hotspot is recovering well from last year’s closure. Mr. Richards says the casino is also close to returning to its 24/7 operations once staff levels return to normal levels and allow to do so. Currently, the property runs every day from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.

However, the casino property has a jam-packed live event schedule, as patrons will be able to enjoy the mixed martial arts “Cage War” tournament. More upcoming events at the venue include a night with 1980s rockers Great White, Slaughter, and King Winger, on October 30, and funk and soul icons Sly and the Family Stone on November 5.

The General Manager says visitors of the casino are quite fond of the live performances at the property since their return this September. He also noted that the Landing Hotel is doing quite well too. He says the hotel is not yet up to the pre-unprecedented situation performance but is getting there.

Before the virus, the casino functioned with around 1,100 staff members, and currently, there are around 860 workers, with over 100 positions posted. The parent company of the property is the Chicago-based Rush Street Gaming has issued out several incentives in order to attract new employees and even putting recruits through dealer courses.

Poker Room Restarted

Most recently at the start of September Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady announced the renewal of operations of its poker room from September 1, 2021. The room features 16 poker tables, as well as slot machines, the Rivers Sportsbook. In order to keep players of the casino entertained the casino will also be hosting exciting daily tournaments that patrons can participate in.

Relax of Restrictions and Capacity

During June, the NY gaming property was allowed to return to its full visitors volume, after an order from now-former Governor Cuomo and the New York Gaming Commission. Plexiglass barriers from the venue were uninstalled and face masks have also become optional for fully vaccinated guests. This is the first time since March 2020, that the venue can operate in full volume.
